The highlight of the night (besides the girls winning Taboo!) was fresh beer bread that Kim made. We devoured the entire loaf with spinach dip.

Seriously, these plates were bare in no time and there were only six of us! זה היה מדהים.

I brought a veggie tray. I know you’re impressed with my fancy cooking going to Costco skills.

and Kristin made veggie chili and corn bread. even though we were all stuffed from so much beer bread everyone loved the chili ? I can eat freshly baked corn bread and beer bread all day!!!

In addition to the people guests there were a lot of dogs! Jake (the big one) hates seeing animals on TV and going crazy at them. We had fun watching his “trick”. He is fine with animals in person, but not on TV. apparently he has a big problem with the Pilsbury Dough boy too.

Kristin planned to make brownies, but used the last of her eggs in the corn bread. We debated what to do and decided just to make it without eggs. fail ? They were super watery, and  looked like they were boiling actually. and as soon as we put it on ice cream the brownie hardened like a rock! Oh well, it was a yummy rock ?

While playing the games there was M&Ms in the middle of the table and I partook. It was an indulgent night for sure!

We got home around 1am, hit the sack and I slept in until 9am! I think that’s a new record for me! I did some strength training with my new loot (in next post) and then ate breakfast… I really wanted cereal so I ate what I wanted (not rocket science for most)

and had some naturally more PB with the banana

I am trying to make cereal “work” for me by adding protein. I made egg beaters in the microwave and topped it with hot sauce.

It is noon and Ben is still asleep! I missed church today ? now I must go be productive…See you in a bit!

Yesterday I headed to my mom’s to help her prep her classroom (she’s a teacher). Then, I hung out with my little brother (read: ate his VitaGummi Bears).

Monday nights call for a drink, usually margaritas but this time it was white wine and ground turkey cooked up with cauliflower. incredibly healthy so it cancels out the wine.

Christmas Eve 2011

Merry Christmas!

Today was full of traveling, naps, catching up with family and FOOD! right after lunch Ben’s mom whisked me away to Publix to get essentials. Yes, Stacy’s Gingerbread Pita Chips are essential.

Actually, anything and everything covered in cinnamon and sugar is a ‘must have’ on Christmas!

After way too much tired snacking I opened up my suitcase and realized I packed a tight dress for Christmas eve festivities (tonight is the night Ben’s family celebrates). Not the best choice after the feast in the kitchen, but its also ALL I packed – the rest of my suitcase was full of gifts and running gear…

Okay, the reason I bought it was it cost 12 bucks at a hoochie store and wouldn’t wrinkle. נעשה ונעשה.

We went to church and I thought it was the best Christmas service ever! The pastor referenced my favorite part of Taladega nights – when will Ferrell prays to the baby Jesus.

At the end we lit candles and sang silent Night, it’s was really beautiful.

Dinner was another mix of everything – variety of salads, quorn chik’n and rolls with butta. looks gross, is delicious.

Then, it was present time! Ben’s family opens everything Christmas Eve so we can sleep in tomorrow.

His mom makes her special hot fudge to pour over ice cream every year too. It’s pretty indulgent, but it only happens once a year.

Hot fudge on top of ice cream means you need to eat it fast before it melts!

All the presents are open and the ice cream is gone. So, tomorrow will be a low key day of lounging, movies and Christmas dinner. I’m looking forward to getting to sleep in an actual bed instead of an airplane seat.Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

But, in my defense – Ben’s mommy is ridiculous too. She made brownies at 2pm this afternoon. There was nobody house except me as well as his parents.

I’ve heard some people are born with this thing called “will power”. I am missing that gene. Don’t judge. would you make fun of somebody with a medical disorder? מקווה שלא.

It’s likewise ridiculous that I ate my popcorn, poultry salad, peanuts as well as other random crap bowl by the pool in December. It’s cold, however gorgeous.

One of the questions I get all the time is, “Does your husband run?”

The simple answer is, No.

When I met Ben I was already a runner. I had done a few half marathons and ran 5 days out of the week. I continued to run while we were dating and after we got married he was used to me sneaking out of bed to pound out a few miles before breakfast. Truthfully, I’ve never really even wanted him to run with me since it’s time for my head movies  

But last new Year’s Ben decided he wanted to run a 5K. He did the couch to 5K program for a few weeks but didn’t completely stick to it. The night before I did the Redland’s half Marathon he decided to pull the trigger and run his first 5K!

Since last April he hasn’t been running so we’re starting from scratch and he has about 11 weeks to go from “Couch to 10 Miles”. That is no joke.

I have hired myself as his Running coach and we’ll be using the Hal Higdon Novice 10 Mile training plan as a rough guide to get him to 10 miles.

I’m switching around the days a bit (like I always do) because he’s going to a MMA gym this month and might have to tweak things if his knees start to bug him (old football injury).

This morning we took a 3 mile walk because I so graciously gave him my cold that prevents you from breathing and makes your face feel swollen full of mucus.

So there is Ben’s little training plan! now I guess I should put one together for myself…

My Day in Food

I haven’t been posting all my eats lately because I thought I’d give you men a break from mixing bowl salads, but I really like seeing my entire day of eats in one post. despite blogging and reading blogs for practically 4 years I wish I could read messages chronologically from breakfast to dinner at the end of the day.

So, this is my little day in food. actually it’s not little at all. I eat a lot, I just like the adjective “little” and use it in front of 76% of the words I say.

This morning I did a 4 mile quick pace run with 2 miles at 8:15 and one at 8:13. I ate half a banana with PB while making breakfast for Ben and myself.

Breakfast was Pumpkin Pancakes because I finally restocked my pumpkin supply!

Then, I blogged and went to the gym for a strength session. I did back and biceps and checked the schedule at work because I was there. The gym’s been very slow, but RER has been busy so it works for now  

When I got back from the gym I had a pumpkin protein bar and a handful of almonds. Ben keeps stealing these bars! I can’t believe it.

I made the typical beast salad for lunch with a random pickle because I cannot get enough of them lately.

And I took 26 minutes to eat this Chobani yogurt so I could eat around the passion Fruit seeds. לא תודה.

I was so happy of myself because I thought pictures of all my food today! until I realized I skipped my little bowl of cereal this afternoon. I don’t ‘need’ Fiber One, but I love the taste! Is that weird? שיהיה.

I had a piece of that remarkable roasted garlic loaf while roasting veggies. I paired it with an egg scramble and called it dinner.

And now I’m enjoying some Mint n’ Chip while viewing house Hunters. Ahhh, this is the life  

Ben is at “bad movie” night with his friends. It’s just like it sounds, they view a bad movie. Well, I’d rather view good TV  while reading blogs  

I’m thinking about making a new tab for my daily eats posts. but I’m also thinking that’s a lot of work. So probably not.

יש לי רולר קצף !!! עדיין לא השתמשתי בזה, עם זאת אני עומד? אני מלא על אצטרך לקחת את זה כשלישייה שלישית בטיול חזרה ל- MD (אני מקווה שהם לא יספקו לי את העסק).

הכנתי סלט קוסקוס לבחור את הגוואקמולי (שאני חושב על המסלול העיקרי!). זה היה קוסקוס חיטה מלאה עם שעועית, תירס, בצל, שום, S&P, חומץ, סירופ מייפל כמו גם מעט סלסה.

אכלתי את זה עם צ’יפס כמו גם גואק כמובן!

אבל, בניגוד לגואק, ציפיתי את הקוסקוס כמו גם את הסלט. אני מנסה להיות הרבה יותר טוב להיות אישה כמו גם לאכול את האוכל שלי מהצלחת לעומת התנור (למרות שהיה הרבה מזה).

קינוח היה כמה שוקולד צ’יפס? פשוט הבנתי שאכלתי גלידה אחרי ארוחת הערב אמש, כמו גם רציתי להצביע על כך למען האחריות. BOO.BS.

עכשיו אני חייב להשיג רולין!
